I am brave

Teniah drew this picture for her daddy! I totally teared up when I saw it and I know that Robert will too! Just thought I'd share it with you all as well!

I smiled when I saw his teeth! She told me that it wasn't "something" (and I can't remember now what she said), it was sparkles!

Week 2 Update

Week 2 for Robert consisted of the Eagle Tower, Pugils, his first Field Training and a lot of time in the "Gravel Pit".

The Eagle Tower...is a 60 foot wall that the soldiers rappel down. Robert said he had fun doing it. They did a rope course as well.

This is a picture of Robert's Platoon. I can't find him...but I'm sure he's there somewhere. He said that most of the guys in his platoon are really good...but some of them are the reason that he doesn't get phone calls home, or ends up in the gravel pit 3 times a day!!

This is pugils. It is "hand to hand" combat and Robert said it was really fun! His platoon didn't win, and he said it was because he didn't compete! His arm was hurting him and he decided it wasn't worth risking restarting...so he didn't compete in the platoon vs. platoon.

This is the teamwork Development Course. From some of the different pictures that I saw, the goal is to get all platoon members from one side to the other. They have 3 or 4 posts in between and they have the 2x4's (or close) and they have to figure it out and work as a team. This is the only picture that I found of Robert this week...and I'm not totally sure that it is him...but I think that he is the guy that is turned and pointing at something!

Week 1 Down

This week went fairly quickly and I got to talk to Robert two different nights. His platoon won two challenges...the obstacle course and the climbing wall...and they won calls home. Robert sounded really good considering he wasn't getting much sleep and he was getting yelled at and smoked (army term for punished...aka push ups!) all day long! I can sympathize with the lack of sleep; I haven't been getting much myself! I have found some solace from facebook...they have a Fort Benning page where mothers wives and other loved ones can band together through the difficult time while their soldier is gone. I have meet a few young ladies just like myself and are fast becoming a great support group! Through these friends, I have found some amazing sites that give a lot of information on the soldiers. One of the sites even has pictures!! YAY!! I wasn't really expecting to find any pictures of Robert, but more just to see what he was doing. Looking through the pictures I was able to find TWO pictures of him!! Amazing!

Look in the top right corner, second head from the right! ROBERT!! Clear as day!!

I am pretty sure that this is him...even if you can't see his eyes!!

Eight more weeks to go!! Hooah!

And the Journey begins......

It has only been a week, but what a whirl wind it has been. Just last Sunday I dropped Robert off at the airport. It seems like it has been one thing after another, and here it is Sunday again. This week had its ups and downs. All things considered, I did get to talk to Robert quite a bit...which I was really thankful for! He has gotten a haircut, 10 shots, 5 in each arm, a trip to the dentist and the audiologist, and has gotten little sleep. When I talked to him tonight, he was excited to get to sleep in a little bit...even if he did have fireguard duty tonight. He heads "down range" on Tuesday and that begins the 3 weeks of hell. I know that it has to get worse before it gets better, but I know that Robert will do great! Anyways...I'll keep you posted! Here's Robert's sexy bald head!! Too bad he didn't give even a little smile!! :0)
